All books/scores:
- See Labeling - CDs, DVDs, Scores, Books for instructions on creating labels and on tattletaping and stamping
- Barcode placement: barcodes are applied at point of cataloging when possible. See "Barcode placement" instructions in Score Cataloging - Copy Cataloger's Workflow Overview for details on barcodes placed during cataloging. A barcode is placed after binding for pam-bound items requiring buff covers, professionally bound items, items requiring photocopying, repair, etc., and rare/special items. For these items, follow the instructions below for barcode placement. These locations make it easier to scan in the barcode. You will see many examples of other placement in existing items.
- Pam-bound items requiring buff cover, professionally bound items, and items requiring photocopying/repair/etc:
- place on the inside back pam/pro bind cover in the top right hand corner, about 1/2" from the top.
- Exception: If there are parts in the way, put it on the facing page, in the top left hand corner.
- If there is nothing bound in (i.e. all parts in pocket) then place the barcode on the top left hand corner of the front cover board.
- Rare/special items:
- Case-by-case basis. Do not place the barcode on the item but rather on the (non-original) binding, the casing, or on a strip inserted in the item.
