Physical expansion played a tremendous part in the hospital's development and Ralph Hall, vice president for facilities services for more than two decades, supervised all of it. Since arriving in 1973, when he began helping to plan the new hospital, he has completed more than 25 projects costing more than $185 million.

With each project he has met multiple state and federal requirements while making sure he satisfied the hospital's needs, too. His oversight created structures that could adapt to new demands for space, technology and almost continual modifications. Overall, more than 1.25 million square feet reflect his keen sense of building for the future.
