Video Cassettes -- Physical Processing
1. Before item is cataloged:
- Get videos from "media not processed" shelf
- Unwrap video if necessary.
- Copy any information located on the long edge of the cassettee label onto the top, either using silver pen or by typing a label.
- Use special video security strips. Place security strip on long edge of cassette (the solid edge, not the one that flips up.)
- Cover the security strip with a security strip cover. Align the cover neatly so it fits in the indentation.
- Place barcode on front, upper RH corner of container. Do not cover up important text or graphics.
- Place video on "media with barcodes and strips" shelf
2. After the item is cataloged:
- The cataloger will have written VC-#### and ECU onto the cassette, using a silver pen.
- Create two labels. They should read:
MusicLib
Media
VC-####
w/insert (if appropriate)
- Place one label on the front, upper LH corner of the container. Do not cover up important text or images.
- Place one label one the lower edge of the container spine. Do not cover up important text or images.
- If there is an insert, create a label for the insert:
MusicLib
Media
VC-####
insert
- Place the label on the front, upper LH corner of the insert. Do not cover up important text or images.
- Check the videocassette in and shelve.
