Mr.Williams' manuscript drafts of PCMH, A Tradition of Excellence contain information that is not included in the book itself. A Pitt County Memorial Hospital Chronology (1923-1993), shorter manuscripts on the hospital and nursing, notes on rehabilitation, and a copy of the book are also included here. (8b.1, 8b.5)

Newspaper Clippings

In the course of his research, Mr. Williams gathered photocopies of newspaper clippings pertaining to the history of the hospital and medicine in Greenville between 1894 and 1991. (8b.4) [Additional newspaper clippings about the Hospital are found in the PCMH Community Relations Scrapbooks (9.8-9.22)]

Pitt County Memorial Hospital Administrative Documents

These documents contain information about the PCMH Board of Trustees, the PCMH Foundation, Inc., and PCMH 50th Celebration plans. "Vision For The Future" of PCMH, 1989-1996 by Mr. Dave McRae, then the newly elected President of PCMH, is here as well. (8b.2)

Pitt County Memorial Hospital Medical District Zoning

These documents concern PCMH Medical District zoning issues from 1990-99. (8b.1, 8b.2)

Rehabilitation Centers

Mr. Williams collected information about laws, history, and statistics on vocational rehabilitation programs both nationally and in North Carolina. (8b.2)

PCMH Volunteer Services

Manuscripts included here are Mr. Williams' draft for "PCMH Volunteer Auxiliary- a History," PCMH Volunteer Service Dept. Annual Reports 1995-96 and 1996-97, Volunteer Training Procedures, Volunteer Legal and Risk Management Issues, letters and various other materials he accumulated for research on the volunteer program at PCMH. (8b.3)

Tornados and Hurricanes

Mr. Williams gathered newspaper articles from the Greenville Daily Reflector and the Raleigh News and Observer as well as reference material from the Internet about the tornados in North Carolina during 1984 and Hurricanes Dennis and Floyd in 1999, because these storms had required considerable extension and adaptation of Hospital services. (8b.3)


Health Statistics

National Health Care Statistics from 1973-1996 and NC Health Statistics from 1994-1998 taken from the Internet are also among the materials that Mr. Williams studied and collected for use in his book. (8b.3)
