| Abstract: | Mike Jacobs of Oxford is one of only two people in the Eastern US who restores old books by hand. Jacobs takes the books apart and sews them back together using waxed Irish linen, a process ensuring the book’s eternal survival. Taking between one week and one month, each book restoration includes a new cover board. Jacobs is a disabled veteran whose doctors encourage his hobby but will not allow him to hold a regular job. |
