Administrative History

Idea proposed in 1984 and put into operation in 1986 by the School of Medicine, Department of Surgery and an independent board of trustees to provide adult day care for senior citizens and training for Cooperative Education students. The first center was opened in the St. James Methodist Church in Greenville in June of 1986. Connie Kuenzi served as director of the Greenville facility which was staffed by registered nurses, social workers and occupational therapists. In August 1987 a center was opened in the Farmvile Community Center. Ann Barfield served as program director at the Farmville center.
