East Carolina University

The School of Allied Health was originally created in the Academic Affairs Division as the School of Allied Health and Social Work in 1983. In the University Archives the early records are found under record group AA7001. In August of 1985 the School of Social Work was split off and the School of Allied Health was moved to the Health Sciences Division. The school has been located in the Carol G. Belk building, but in 2006 will be moving into a new 127,000 square-foot building, a part of a considated health sciences campus to built using funds from the 2002 statewide higher education facilities bond referendum. In the summer of 2004 the university will break ground on construction of new buildings. Ed Monroe, Harold Jones and Stephen Thomas have served as deans of the School of Allied Health.
