AA0100 Academic Library Services

In actuality ECU has had a library since its founding, though the records available do not indicate a person specifically in charge of its holdings until 1923/24 with the appointment of Helen Gray as Librarian.
The library consists of the departments of Administration, Building Operations, Cataloging, Circulation/Reserve, Acquisitions, Development, Government Documents/Microforms, Interlibrary Loan Services, Music Library, North Carolina Collection, Reference Services, Special Collections, Systems and Teaching Resources.
Special Collections created in 1966 consisting of manuscript and North Carolina Collection. Added Hoover collection in 1968, and University Archives in 1980. In 1998 North Carolina Collection split into it's own unit.
Academic Communication Support Services studio built in Joyner Library August - October 1993.
